The Toledo Bend Community Club hosted a forum Thursday night for candidates for

Newton County Sheriff, Constable, State Representative and U.S Congress. About 50 people showed up to listen to speeches and ask questions from the various candidates.

Those participating included (left to right) as pictured above:

For Constable: Lewis “Sonny” White and Toby Pennington.  For Sheriff: Cynthia Hall and Robert Burby. State Rep. James White who is running unopposed, and Rachael Iglesias, a representative of Congressman Brian Babin.

Also, speaking for Commissioner Tick Fomby, who is running unopposed, was his representative, Susan Pose.

Other County Officials were present, including Judge Kenneth Weeks.

Chairman Chuck Yehling wishes to thank all those who came out, especially Steve and Sherry Storer for providing the snacks and Dave and Gayle Pigion for keeping the stopwatch on making sure the speeches didn’t get too long. Dave’s “quacking duck” sound was one of the highlights of the evening.
